Position Overview

The role of the Lead Quality Assurance Specialist involves overseeing the quality assurance processes to ensure the delivery of high-quality software products. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of both functional and technical requirements, as well as the ability to lead a team in executing effective testing strategies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to define and document Functional and Technical Testable Requirements (Waterfall) and/or User Stories and Acceptance Criteria (Agile).
  • Ensure a thorough understanding of all Functional and Technical Requirements and/or Acceptance Criteria, providing approval when fulfilling Quality Assurance project lead responsibilities.
  • Review Design documents to confirm alignment with Requirements and provide approval as necessary when acting as QA project lead.
  • Work alongside the QA Supervisor and/or QA Lead to develop the Level of Effort (LOE) estimate, Test Strategy, and Test Plan for all testing activities within the project.
  • Lead collaboration with Business Analysts (BA), Developers, and Database Administrators (DBA) to create detailed and reusable Functional, System Integration, and Regression Test Cases, while completing the Requirements Traceability Matrix.
  • Assist the Performance Engineer in identifying business flows for Performance/Load testing.
  • Support the Automation Engineer in selecting test cases for Smoke/Regression testing.
  • Document all defects in the defect tracking tool promptly and participate in Defect Triage and Review meetings.
  • Provide leadership in QA for assigned projects, managing the overall scope of testing efforts, communicating effectively, and escalating issues to the appropriate resources in a timely manner.
  • Complete necessary QA documentation, ensuring timely approvals and sign-offs, and update documentation as required due to changes in project Requirements, scope, or testing schedules.
  • Execute Manual and Automation Test Cases for various test types (smoke, functional, regression, etc.) according to the Test Plan, explaining the rationale for risk-based or priority testing.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • A minimum of seven (7) years of experience in a Quality Assurance Analyst role, encompassing planning and executing end-to-end testing of integrated systems and validating the integration layer.
  • At least three (3) years of experience in a Quality Assurance Lead role, coordinating various testing activities, demonstrating strong verbal communication skills, and professionally escalating issues in a timely manner.
  • One (1) year of experience utilizing remote collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams, Skype, SharePoint, etc.
  • One (1) year of experience with standard QA tools for creating, storing, and sharing testing documentation, including real-time test execution reports.
  • Proficient in writing and executing complex Structured Query Language (SQL) query commands.
  • Some roles may require three (3) years of experience testing Cúram solutions for healthcare reform and/or integrated systems utilizing Cúram healthcare data.
  • Some roles may require three (3) years of experience testing MMIS (Medicaid Management Information Systems).
  • Some roles may require five (5) years of experience testing mainframe applications and various mainframe utilities, including Time Sharing Option (TSO), Interactive System Productivity Facility (ISPF), and Job Control Language (JCL).
