Senior Plumbing & Fire Protection Engineer

We are seeking experienced professionals for the role of Senior Plumbing & Fire Protection Engineer. This position involves a variety of responsibilities that are essential to the successful execution of projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with project teams to create detailed drawings and specification documents.
  • Design plumbing systems, including the formulation of initial plumbing concepts.
  • Conduct system design calculations, including preliminary assessments for water, gas, and sanitary/sewer loads.
  • Select appropriate equipment for integration into building systems.
  • Implement sustainable design practices within projects.
  • Prepare contract drawings that illustrate the designed systems.
  • Engage in report writing and specification preparation.
  • Coordinate efforts with engineers from various disciplines and architects.
  • Participate in meetings with clients to ascertain their requirements and address design-related concerns.
  • Communicate with utility companies to ensure proper coordination of incoming services.
  • Attend construction meetings and liaise with contractors and design teams to resolve construction-related issues.
  • Review Requests for Information (RFIs) and submittals pertaining to plumbing during construction.
  • Conduct site visits and generate field observation reports.
  • Evaluate completed construction and provide punch lists of outstanding items.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 7 years of professional experience in commercial, healthcare, or institutional building projects.
  • At least 7 years of current experience in designing plumbing and fire protection systems.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and Revit software.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of national plumbing, fire, and building codes.
  • Experience with stormwater management and drainage is a plus.
  • Familiarity with the School Construction Authority is beneficial but not mandatory.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Demonstrated analytical and quantitative skills, with a strong capability for strategic thinking.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
  • Capable of managing multiple projects to meet stringent deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts clearly, both verbally and in writing.
