About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Library Professional to join our team at the City of Pilot Point, TX. As a key member of our library staff, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, and directing programming for all ages, including children, teens, and adults.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collection Development and Management: Curate and manage library collections, including selecting, acquiring, cataloging, and weeding materials.
  • Reference and Research Assistance: Provide reference and research assistance to patrons, utilizing both print and digital resources.
  • Program Development and Implementation: Develop and implement library programs and events for patrons of all ages, such as Storytime sessions, book clubs, and workshops.
  • Patron Services: Assist patrons with using library resources, including computers, databases, and digital media.
  • Library Maintenance: Maintain the library's physical and digital spaces, ensuring organization, cleanliness, and accessibility.
  • Community Outreach: Collaborate with community organizations, schools, and other libraries to promote library services and literacy initiatives.
  • Professional Development: Stay informed about current trends in library science, literature, and education, and incorporate new ideas and technologies into library services.
  • Leadership and Supervision: Train and supervise library staff and volunteers as needed.
  • Administrative Tasks: Perform administrative tasks such as budgeting, reporting, and policy development.
Requirements
  • Education: Master's Degree in Library Science (ALA accredited program).
  • Experience: 2 to 4 years of experience as a professional Librarian, preferably in a public library.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Strong knowledge of library principles, practices, and procedures. Proficiency in library cataloging systems and classification schemes. Excellent research skills and familiarity with reference tools and databases. Ability to adapt to evolving technologies and integrate them into library services.
