Position Overview
Sentry is seeking a qualified individual for the role of Public Equity Analyst/Manager. This position offers a unique chance to contribute significantly within a compact team framework, with ample opportunities for professional advancement.

The role involves in-depth fundamental stock analysis to construct and oversee Public Equity portfolios within the Investment Department.

Key Responsibilities
As a Public Equity Portfolio Manager, your responsibilities will include:

  • Assessing individual stocks for potential inclusion in public equity portfolios through a comprehensive analysis of business models, financial metrics, and sector performance, alongside participation in quarterly earnings calls and discussions with senior management.
  • Monitoring daily market conditions and relevant economic indicators.
  • Contributing to the development and management of public equity portfolios that align with the performance goals of the Insurance Company.
  • Continuously supervising and evaluating existing stock holdings.
  • Making informed decisions regarding the acquisition and disposition of public equity positions, articulating the rationale behind these decisions clearly.

Additionally, you will:

  • Summarize and present timely insights on market and sector trends to the Investment Department.
  • Develop a macroeconomic perspective to integrate into the overall strategic planning of the organization.
  • Evaluate emerging investment technologies, strategies, and vehicles for potential integration into Sentry's investment portfolios.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
A Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience is required, with a Master's degree preferred. Progress towards a Chartered Financial Analyst designation is highly desirable. Candidates should possess:

  • A solid understanding of investment markets.
  • A background in fundamental public equity analysis.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Analytical capabilities.

Specific Requirements for Public Equity Assistant:
At least 2 years of relevant experience is necessary, with a background in macroeconomics being advantageous. The ability to perform under time constraints is essential.

Specific Requirements for Portfolio Manager:
A minimum of 5 years of related experience is required, along with a robust background in macroeconomics, financial and statistical analysis, and portfolio management principles. Candidates must be able to meet the travel requirements of the position.
