Position Overview:
The Surgical Instrumentation Specialist plays a crucial role in the decontamination, sanitation, processing, and sterilization of medical supplies, instruments, and equipment utilized by the healthcare facility.

Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure the meticulous preparation and proper storage of medical supplies and equipment.
- Engage in special projects and contribute to departmental performance enhancement initiatives as needed.
- Execute related administrative tasks efficiently.

Alta Hospitals is a fully accredited acute care institution, equipped with a significant number of beds dedicated to various medical services.

Patient Care:
Our facility is committed to providing exceptional care for patients requiring long-term medical support, including those needing ventilator assistance and nutritional management.

Core Duties:
- Supply the hospital and affiliated facilities with processed materials, ensuring compliance with decontamination, cleaning, inspection, assembly, and packaging standards for medical/surgical equipment.
- Maintain a sterile and operational inventory of surgical instruments.
- Possess comprehensive knowledge of sterilization processes, biologicals, protocols, and necessary supplies.
- Adhere to infection control procedures and ensure compliance with relevant policies and standards.

Operational Excellence:
- Oversee the proper functioning and care of clinical equipment and supplies.
- Conduct quality assessments, troubleshoot issues, and manage inventory effectively.
- Assist in the receipt and tracking of supply deliveries.
- Provide orientation and training to new staff members as assigned.

Administrative Functions:
- Prepare necessary documentation, forms, and reports accurately and promptly.
- Establish and maintain organized filing systems and provide excellent departmental communication support.
- Ensure a clean, organized, and clutter-free work environment.

Professional Conduct:
- Actively engage in compassionate behaviors, taking ownership of work responsibilities and demonstrating proactive decision-making.
- Exhibit outstanding customer service consistently, ensuring patient privacy and dignity are upheld at all times.

Qualifications:
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience: Minimum of one (1) year in a Sterile Processing or Central Sterile Department is essential. Candidates should demonstrate flexibility and composure in a dynamic environment, with strong time management and prioritization skills. Proficiency in computer usage is also required.

Certification:
- Certification from an accredited Sterile Processing Technician program or as a Certified Surgical Technologist with SPD certification within one year of employment is mandatory. Additional certifications may be preferred.
