Key Responsibilities:
The Surgical Services Technologist is accountable for managing the instruments, supplies, and equipment essential during surgical procedures.
Understand the surgical process, anticipate the surgeon's requirements, ensure optimal patient care throughout the operation, and maintain vigilance over the sterile environment.
Monitor and check supplies and equipment necessary for surgical procedures; notify the nurse manager if additional consumable items are needed.Prepare the surgical area, including the table, blocks, and mayo stand with the required instruments, supplies, medications, and solutions for each procedure.
Conduct appropriate counts with the circulator prior to the operation and before closing the incision.Perform thorough preparation of surgical sites and drape the sterile field.
Prepare instruments for terminal sterilization and conduct weekly terminal cleaning of the operating room.
Assist with patient check-in, scheduling surgeries, post-operative follow-up, phone triage, turnover cleaning/room preparation, and patient transfers (to and from the operating room) while obtaining vital signs.
Ensure sterilization of surgical instruments and adherence to infection control protocols.This position operates in a professional office, clinical, and/or laboratory environment.
This role routinely utilizes standard office equipment such as computers, including keyboards and mice; telephones; while performing job duties, the employee will interact with others and ensure compliance with medical regulations, ethical standards, and organizational policies to uphold the highest levels of care and safety for patients and staff.
