Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate new and renewal policy applications to assess each risk, determine acceptability, and assign rating.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with brokers and internal contacts to facilitate the underwriting process.
  • Create and maintain all documentation, including underwriting worksheets and other key documents.
  • Approve or deny policy applications within given authority or recommend approval or denial to higher authority.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and developments related to applicable areas of the Company's business.
Requirements
  • Minimum 4-year Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Progressive underwriting experience in specialty or related areas, including a working knowledge of state laws.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, with an emphasis on confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office package, including Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Word.
