Your New Role...
This pivotal leadership position in Corporate Accounting emphasizes Equity Investments, AR Securitization, and various Corporate functions.

The role demands robust technical accounting expertise and the ability to make critical decisions regarding accounting practices to align with Warner Media's standards while ensuring compliance with US GAAP.

You will collaborate closely with auditors, senior management, and the accounting policy team to navigate complex accounting challenges.

Your responsibilities will span all Reporting Segments of Warner Media, including Studios, DTC, Networks, and Corporate, necessitating frequent interaction with senior leaders across Accounting, Finance, Corporate Development, Tax, Treasury, and Operations.

Your Role Accountabilities...
Oversee the monthly closing process, ensuring accurate and thorough reviews of complex entries and adjustments within the corporate accounting framework.

Key focus areas include investments managed under the equity method and other investment guidelines, requiring ongoing communication with various departments.

Manage the monthly accounting processes tied to the Company's AR Securitization program, coordinating with global business service teams to guarantee precise AR reporting.

Additionally, partner with the Treasury team to effectively convey accounting implications related to program decisions.

Maintain advanced technical accounting knowledge and provide decision support in evaluating complex accounting judgments. Skills required include:

  • Ability to interpret and apply accounting guidance effectively, including fair value and impairment standards under US GAAP.
  • Frequent collaboration with auditors and subject matter experts to finalize accounting treatments.
  • Ensuring effective financial controls, particularly SOX controls related to investments and financial asset management.
  • Managing multiple close deadlines across various ERP systems.
  • Overseeing comprehensive balance sheet reconciliations and timely completion of supplemental schedules for disclosures.

Provide accounting insights and support to senior Finance and Accounting leaders, including Corporate Executives and Segment CFOs. Foster a collaborative environment with business partners while upholding integrity and compliance with accounting policies.

Champion the culture of Warner Media through active involvement in cross-departmental development and team-building initiatives. Lead and support both ad hoc and ongoing projects aimed at enhancing the Controllership function.

Qualifications & Experience...

A minimum of 7 years of accounting experience is required, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or leadership capacity.

Essential qualifications include:

  • Strong knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP) and SOX requirements.
  • Preferred public accounting experience.
  • A BS/BA in a relevant field from an accredited institution.
  • CPA certification is mandatory.
  • Proficiency in interpreting and implementing technical accounting guidance for complex transactions.
  • Demonstrated initiative, problem-solving skills, and leadership capabilities.
  • Experience in process analysis and improvement.
  • Strong multitasking abilities to manage diverse accounting activities.
  • Advanced analytical skills and technical accounting expertise.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Curiosity and the courage to challenge conventional practices.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and familiar with Microsoft Office.
  • Experience in technical accounting research and memo writing.
  • Exposure to investment and sale accounting treatment is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with SAP and experience in forecasting/budgeting.
  • Background in the media industry is a plus.
