About the Role

Symetra is seeking a highly skilled Associate Policy Administrator to join our team in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. As a key member of our service team, you will play a critical role in supporting the new business and customer service functions for our Life, Disability, and Self-Insured Medical Stop Loss business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contract Administration: Responsible for setting up systems for Stop Loss, creating contract/certificate/administration agreements, and amendments of in-force contracts for Group Life, Disability, and Medical Excess Loss Products.
  • Policy Analysis: Analyze documents submitted and policy admin system (PASR/ESL), determine if additional information is needed.
  • Contract Management: Administration of in-force contracts for Benefits Life, Disability, and Medical Stop Loss products, including policyholder list bill updates, renewals, agent of record, etc.
  • Work Assignment Management: Responsible for daily management of work assignments, ensuring appropriate communications, and meeting deadlines and Service Level Agreements.
  • Product Knowledge: Obtain and maintain basic knowledge of products, processes, industry, and company rules regarding pre-sale, policy set up and issue, renewals, revision, medical underwriting, system administration, amendments, etc.
  • Customer Service: Provide customer service via the Benefits 800 phone line to policyholders, broker/agents, sales team, etc.
  • Broker/Agent and TPA Appointments: Understanding and application of guides for Broker/Agent and TPA appointments for contract renewal and Broker of Record changes.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • High School Diploma: Required.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Excellent oral/written communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong Planning and Organizational Skills: Strong planning, prioritizing, organizational skills, detail orientation with high level of accuracy.
  • Ability to Learn and Apply Complex Systems: Ability to learn and apply a complex system and set of rules and guides.
  • Multi-Tasking and Time Management: Ability to multi-task and deliver results in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Initiative and Self-Motivation: Demonstrate initiative and self-motivation.
  • Microsoft Applications: Knowledge of Microsoft applications, Word, Excel.
