Title: Assistant Director of Nursing

Reports to: Director of Health and Wellness

Classification: Non-exempt

Role Summary: The Assistant Director of Nursing plays a crucial role in delivering nursing assistance as instructed by the Director of Health and Wellness. This position is instrumental in ensuring that Ciel Senior Living, LLC's standards and state regulations for resident care are upheld. Additionally, the role involves supporting staff management and ensuring adherence to regulatory guidelines.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Promote the mission, vision, and objectives of the organization, advocating for company culture and values.
  • Engage in shift reporting to ensure seamless communication.
  • Assist in overseeing documentation systems to guarantee compliance with regulatory timelines for assessments and service plans, ensuring resident needs are adequately addressed.
  • Supervise nursing department personnel during shifts.
  • Contribute to the Quality Services report in the absence of the Director of Health and Wellness.
  • Participate in narcotic inventory checks during shift changes, ensuring accurate record-keeping.
  • Monitor medication administration processes.
  • Administer medications as directed, adhering to the "Rights of Medication Administration".
  • Conduct weekly audits of medication carts as assigned.
  • Assist in the reordering of medications.
  • Ensure the medication room is maintained in a clean and organized manner.
  • Facilitate timely faxing of new medication orders to the pharmacy.
  • Notify families regarding the need for mail-order medication refills.
  • Communicate with physicians' offices as necessary to obtain or modify orders for residents.
  • Follow established protocols for processing physician orders.
  • Document any changes in resident conditions in accordance with policy.
  • Assist in conducting chart audits and documentation updates as required.
  • Support the development and upkeep of resident care plans.
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of incident reports.
  • Update Do Not Resuscitate (DNR) orders as necessary.
  • Assist the Director of Health and Wellness in maintaining resident charts and care files.
  • Visit residents in hospitals or rehabilitation facilities as assigned.
  • Participate in annual flu clinics and TB testing for staff and residents.
  • Engage in community wellness initiatives as assigned.
  • Participate in weekend and holiday coverage as needed.
  • Contribute to the backup sales team.
  • Be part of the on-call schedule as required.
  • Record residents' vital signs, including temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration, as directed.
  • Observe residents for responses to medications and report any unexpected reactions.
  • Provide counseling to residents on social or other issues.
  • Coordinate residents' medical appointments based on their needs.
  • Ensure prompt response to residents' call lights to address their needs swiftly.
  • Attend training and conferences to stay updated on nursing practices and maintain necessary continuing education units (CEUs) for licensure, with supervisor approval.
  • Ensure all caregiver responsibilities are fulfilled and documented appropriately.
  • Assist in overseeing training for nursing staff to meet state regulatory requirements as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Address concerns from associates, families, and residents to foster satisfaction and effective communication.
  • Be knowledgeable about the community's fire evacuation and disaster policies and participate in drills as assigned.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding all personal and health information of residents and staff.
  • Understand and adhere to compliance and ethics program policies and procedures.
  • Complete all mandatory training related to compliance, HIPAA, and state and federal regulations as required.
  • Assist in the recruitment and interviewing of candidates.
  • Participate in ongoing training courses and maintain up-to-date training records through the designated Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Perform other duties as assigned that contribute to the success of the community and the well-being of our residents.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education required for state nursing licensure (LPN/LVN or RN). A minimum of 3 years of clinical leadership experience is preferred. Familiarity with basic technology and electronic documentation is essential.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and make independent clinical decisions in routine and emergency situations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to manage sensitive and confidential matters.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and varied hours as needed to meet residents' needs.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license and the ability to travel for resident assessments and professional development training.
  • Current RN or LPN licensure in good standing is required.
