Clinical Laboratory Specialist

Overview:
The Clinical Laboratory Specialist is responsible for conducting a range of routine and intricate laboratory analyses, encompassing both waived and high complexity testing across various sections of the Clinical Laboratory. This role involves active participation in quality assurance, proficiency testing, development of methodologies, and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Troubleshoots issues related to laboratory equipment, test outcomes, specimens, and workflow processes.
• Engages in collaborative projects or special assignments as needed.
• May provide instruction to Clinical Laboratory Science students and Pathology residents, as well as training for new staff members.
• Acts as a technical resource within the laboratory setting.
• Conducts quality control and equipment upkeep in the designated laboratory area.
• Performs standard and specialized testing procedures, including chemical, microscopic, and bacteriological analyses. Monitors tests and reactions, delivering accurate data.
• Prepares specimens and necessary reagents, solutions, and filters as required.
• Communicates results to healthcare professionals and consults with them regarding test interpretations.
• Reviews laboratory results to ensure report accuracy and prompt correction of any discrepancies.
Additional Information:
- Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or a related scientific field.
- Must possess or be eligible for registration as a Medical Technologist through ASCP or NCA.
