Overview:
The Rehabilitation Specialist is responsible for designing and implementing medically prescribed rehabilitation programs aimed at restoring physical function.

This role focuses on preventing disability due to illness or injury, while empowering patients to achieve their highest potential within their individual capabilities.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Diagnostic Assessment: Conducts both basic and advanced diagnostic evaluations in Physical Therapy to address mobility issues and related impairments.
  • Education: Instructs and mentors graduate Physical Therapy students and clinical fellows. Contributes to innovative patient care programs and serves as a resource for other healthcare professionals in specialized areas.
  • Care Evaluation: Reviews diagnostic and therapeutic test results to set patient objectives and adjust treatment plans as necessary. Communicates critical information to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Implementation: Utilizes current and advanced methodologies to deliver effective rehabilitative services. Provides habilitation and rehabilitation for individuals with mobility challenges, prioritizing care based on patient and family needs.
  • Community Engagement: Acts as a resource for state health departments and health professionals in specialized fields. Engages in community health initiatives and presents at local or state events.
  • Participation: Enhances clinical service quality through active involvement in departmental meetings and training sessions.
  • Quality Assurance: Maintains accurate and reliable records of patient care and progress. Engages in quality improvement initiatives alongside clinical specialists and other healthcare providers.

Additional Information:
Graduation from an accredited Physical Therapy program is required.
Possession of a Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy.
Completion of a supervised clinical internship is necessary.
A current license to practice as a Physical Therapist in North Carolina is mandatory.
