Overview:
The Rehabilitation Specialist is responsible for organizing and implementing medically prescribed rehabilitation programs aimed at restoring physical function.

This role focuses on preventing disability following illness or injury, while assisting patients in achieving their highest potential and adapting to their individual capabilities.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Diagnostic Assessment: Conducts both basic and advanced diagnostic evaluations in the field of rehabilitation therapy to address mobility challenges and related conditions.
  • Education: Instructs and mentors graduate rehabilitation therapy students and/or clinical fellows. Contributes to the development of innovative programs that enhance patient care and serves as a resource for other healthcare professionals in specialized areas.
  • Care Evaluation: Reviews diagnostic and therapeutic testing results to set patient objectives and adjust treatment plans as necessary. Communicates pertinent information to ensure continuity of care.
  • Service Implementation: Selects and utilizes current and advanced methodologies to deliver high-quality rehabilitative services. Provides habilitation, rehabilitation, and maintenance support for individuals with mobility impairments, prioritizing care based on patient and family needs.
  • Community Engagement: Acts as a resource for local health departments and statewide health professionals in specialized fields. Engages in community health initiatives and events.
  • Participation: Enhances the quality of clinical services through active involvement in departmental meetings and training sessions.
  • Quality Assurance: Contributes to the maintenance of accurate and reliable records of patient procedures and progress. Participates in quality improvement initiatives alongside clinical specialists and other healthcare professionals.

Additional Information:
Graduation from an accredited rehabilitation therapy program is required.

Bachelor's Degree in Rehabilitation Therapy is necessary.

Successful completion of a supervised clinical internship is mandatory.

A current license to practice as a Rehabilitation Specialist in the relevant state is essential.
