Role Summary:
The Clinical Nurse plays a crucial role in delivering high-quality nursing care that aligns with established professional standards. Reporting directly to the Nurse Manager or Director, this position is responsible for the coordination and execution of patient care through the nursing process within a hospital environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Education: Actively engages in identifying personal learning needs and participates in educational programs. Utilizes patient education resources tailored to the specific patient demographic. Evaluates the readiness of patients and their families to learn, considering their developmental stages and learning capabilities.
2. Care Evaluation: Establishes expected outcomes for patient care and seeks guidance for any necessary adjustments to the care plan. Collaborates with interdisciplinary team members to assess and evaluate patient care, ensuring continuity of care through effective communication.
3. Implementation: Demonstrates proficiency in managing patients with intricate health issues, addressing their physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs. Conducts bedside testing as needed and adheres to organizational standards and protocols in care delivery. Prioritizes care based on patient and family requirements, consulting with relevant resources for complex cases.
4. Leadership: Works towards personal and professional development goals, contributing to unit objectives and performance improvement initiatives. Engages in effective communication and promotes cost-efficient care while fostering a safe and secure environment for all stakeholders.
5. Patient Assessment: Analyzes complex data to establish care priorities, integrating physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety considerations. Anticipates discharge needs and cultivates relationships with families to empower them in advocating for their loved ones.
6. Care Planning: Collaborates with patients and families to create or update care plans, utilizing multidisciplinary resources effectively. Recognizes and addresses cultural and ethnic factors in care planning, demonstrating the ability to prioritize tasks for patients with complex needs.
7. Research: Engages with professional literature to identify applicable studies and concepts, sharing insights with colleagues for collective evaluation.
Additional Information:
Education Requirements:
Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
Licensure/Certification:
Must hold a valid Registered Nurse license in North Carolina and possess Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers.
Professional Experience:
A minimum of one year of nursing experience is required.
