Homeless Intervention Specialist

ShelterCare is a social services agency that provides a range of housing solutions combined with wraparound services for families and community members who are experiencing homelessness, on the verge of becoming homeless and have a serious mental illness.
Job SummaryWe are seeking a skilled Shelter Intervention Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting program participants and ensuring that all activities, policies and procedures meet the agency's values and mission.
Key Responsibilities- Support program participants in achieving their goals and improving their well-being
- Develop and implement individualized plans to address the needs of program participants
- Collaborate with other team members to ensure a comprehensive and trauma-informed approach to care
- Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation services as needed
- Document progress and outcomes in a timely and accurate manner
- Degree in social work or a related field, or equivalent experience
- 1-3 years of experience working with people who have been homeless and/or have mental health needs
- Knowledge of mental health, substance use disorder and homelessness needs and services
- Experience providing interventions to this population
- Crisis de-escalation and effective communication
- Negotiation and collaboration
- Scheduling and time management
- Leadership and risk management
- Critical thinking and problem solving
- Use of technology for email, spreadsheets and documents
This role involves sitting most of the work day and requires close visual acuity to perform tasks such as preparing and analyzing data and figures. Occasional travel is required for offsite meetings and sessions.
