Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP is seeking a highly skilled Docket Clerk to join its team in New York. As a key member of the Managing Attorney's office, you will play a critical role in coordinating litigation filings, docketing, and calendaring for the firm's litigators.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Managing Attorney's team with filings, research, and other tasks.
  • File and serve papers in state and federal courts, including pleadings, motions, and discovery papers.
  • Perform docketing and calendaring tasks using the firm's calendar software.
  • Work with vendors to obtain court files, serve process, and provide litigation-related support.
  • Maintain and update electronic databases, such as ECF logins and form files.
  • Confirm procedures by performing online research and contacting clerks of court.
  • Respond to requests and inquiries from attorneys, paralegals, and secretaries regarding calendared events, pleadings, and court procedures.
  • Review papers before service and filing for correct form, signatures, and required filing fees.
  • Stay informed on procedural best practices, case trends, and rule changes.
  • Draft form documents and letters.
  • Display professionalism and quality service in all interactions with internal and external stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree or minimum of 4 years of experience working as a Docket Clerk in a Managing Attorney's/Clerk's office or a professional services environment.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of PACER, CourtAlert, NYS Unified Court System, CompuLaw, Courthouse News Service, and Courtlink.
  • Knowledge of Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, NY Civil Practice Law and Rules, NY Rules of Court, and local practices.
  • Demonstrated ability in complex filings, both paper and electronic.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a demanding and fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to use discretion and exercise independent and sound judgment.
  • Must be detail-oriented.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize issues and handle competing priorities.
  • Ability to take initiative in handling projects and anticipating what needs to be done.
