Qualifications

  • Master's degree in communication disorders from an accredited institution recognized by ASHA and the state board.


  • Possession of a valid license and/or registration in the applicable state.
  • Successful completion of Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough speech therapy assessments as per physician directives.
  • Accurately document findings using standardized evaluation formats, adhering to all guidelines.
  • Develop a comprehensive treatment strategy that includes both long-term and short-term objectives, frequency, duration, treatment modalities, and therapeutic interventions.
  • Ensure physician orders are secured for evaluations, treatments, recertifications, and discharges.
  • Deliver effective treatment to patients, modifying approaches as necessary while following safety protocols.
  • Timely and accurately document patient progress in the approved format.
  • Update treatment plans monthly in a standardized format promptly.
  • Document patient discharges and any necessary in-service education.
  • Complete all required documentation as mandated by the facility.
  • Maintain care plans and relevant information for the Minimum Data Set (MDS) as needed.
  • Attend facility and rehabilitation meetings as directed by supervisors or regional management.
  • Participate in facility committee meetings as required.
  • Act as a rehabilitation representative within the interdisciplinary team.
  • Assist in patient scheduling as needed.
  • Conduct screenings as indicated.
  • Complete billing accurately and ethically for all speech therapy services provided.
  • Provide coverage for colleagues' caseloads during their absence as necessary.
  • Supervise junior staff members or students in accordance with state and federal regulations. Co-sign notes for CFYs and students as required.
  • Foster professional relationships with colleagues, facility staff, patients, and their families.
  • Deliver in-service training on patient care or speech therapy topics to rehabilitation staff, facility personnel, and the community as needed.
  • Adhere to all facility policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with federal regulations regarding resident rights and HIPAA.
  • Arrive on time, adhere to scheduled hours, and maintain a professional demeanor at all times.
  • Meet productivity expectations, complete productivity reports, and submit them promptly.
  • Follow all Human Resource policies regarding breaks, sick leave, and time-off notifications.
  • Contribute to a positive work environment by communicating professionally and fostering good relationships with customers, clients, colleagues, and management.
  • Perform any additional duties assigned by the department supervisor, lead therapist, or regional manager.
  • Comply with all written and verbal facility policies and procedures.
