Role Summary

The Clinical Speech Therapist is responsible for delivering diagnostic and therapeutic services to individuals referred for speech and language interventions. This role includes maintaining accurate records related to patient care and treatment outcomes. The therapist will observe, assess, and document the effects of treatment, collaborating with supervisors on relevant matters concerning program development and professional growth, including research initiatives, program expansion, and adherence to policies and procedures. Participation in interdisciplinary team activities is also expected when appropriate.

Essential Qualifications

Career Progression:

Speech Language Pathologist (Entry Level):
  • Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology or Communication Sciences and Disorders is mandatory.
  • Current licensure in Speech Language Pathology issued by the appropriate regulatory body is required.
  • Certification of Clinical Competence in Speech Language Pathology from the relevant professional association is necessary or must be obtained within the first year of employment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Speech Language Pathology practices and a commitment to ongoing professional development.
Speech Language Pathologist (Advanced Level):
  • Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology or Communication Sciences and Disorders or higher is required.
  • Current licensure in Speech Language Pathology issued by the appropriate regulatory body is required.
  • Certification from the relevant professional association is necessary.
  • Clinical experience of more than two years but less than three years in a similar role is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications

Speech Language Pathologist (Entry Level):
  • Experience in a clinical Speech Language Pathology environment.
  • Direct patient care experience with complex medical cases.
  • Experience with patients requiring tracheostomy care and ventilator support, as well as instrumental swallowing assessments.
  • Familiarity with evidence-based evaluation and treatment methodologies.
Speech Language Pathologist (Advanced Level):
  • N/A
