Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Naval Architect to join our team at Naval Sea Systems Command. As a key member of our Surface Ship Propulsor team, you will be responsible for designing and developing innovative propulsion systems for the US Navy's surface ships.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement surface ship propulsor policies, standards, and criteria
  • Identify and secure funding for technical support and headquarters oversight
  • Represent the US Navy on Joint Service Panels, NATO Panels, and other technical forums
  • Manage assigned surface ship propulsor programs
  • Serve as Senior Subject Matter Expert and Command Technical Authority Point of Contact for Propulsors/Propellers, Waterjets, Rudders, and Appendages
Requirements

To be considered for this position, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower pay band NH-03 (GS-13) or grade level in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional engineer managing the execution of ship or submarine system design projects.

You must also meet the basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management, which include successful completion of a professional engineering degree or current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico.
