Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Naval Architect to join our team at the Department of the Navy. As a Naval Architect Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing the design, development, and maintenance of naval warships and their systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical direction and oversight to the Naval Architecture Division, ensuring compliance with technical requirements and specifications.
  • Manage the application of technical authority within the scope of the NAV ARCH Division TWHs in ship and ship technology design and design integration, manufacture, maintenance, and overhaul.
  • Oversee the execution of naval technical authority supporting the design, manufacture, maintenance, and overhaul of naval warships and the development and maintenance of US Navy standards and criteria.
  • Coordinate and assist efforts of TWHs in the NAV ARCH Division in the identification of technology and research and development efforts needed in design, manufacture, maintenance, and overhaul.
  • Serve as the US Navy's naval architecture performance systems engineer on Joint Service Panels, NATO Panels, Data Review Panels, Regulatory Boards, Integrated Product Teams, Cooperative navies efforts, and professional societies.
  • Approve the planning, programming, budgeting, and financial and business management efforts for all assigned projects within the Division.
  • Provide overall technical and administrative supervision to the Naval Architecture Division, ensuring equality in determining qualifications, selections, assignments, training, promotions, details, discipline, and awards to employees.
Requirements
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty.
  • Must be able to travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites.
  • Must be able to sign a three-year tenure agreement prior to assuming the position unless a tenure waiver is approved.
Qualifications

Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual:

  • Successful completion of a professional engineering degree.
  • Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico.
  • Evidence of having successfully passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination or any other written test required for professional registration by an engineering licensure board in the various States, the District of Columbia, Guam, and Puerto Rico.
  • Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under paragraph A (above).
