As a Visual Department Manager, you will play a vital role in this mission by delivering outstanding service, achieving sales goals, and maintaining company standards in a dynamic retail environment under the leadership of the Store Team Leader.

The role of the Visual Department Manager encompasses a variety of responsibilities. These include creating a unique shopping experience through the G.U.E.S.T. service model, nurturing high-performing teams to meet sales targets, managing payroll effectively, providing comprehensive training to staff, ensuring visual merchandising standards are upheld, streamlining operational processes, and ensuring compliance with The Paper Store's mission, standards, and policies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as a TPS Champion by embodying the G.U.E.S.T. service model and consistently delivering World Class Service
    • Warmly greet and welcome each customer with enthusiasm
    • Identify customer needs through open-ended inquiries
    • Detail product features and benefits relevant to customer needs
    • Suggest additional items to enhance sales using effective techniques
    • Express gratitude sincerely and encourage customers to return
  • Build customer loyalty by being friendly, attentive, and respectful
  • Foster a respectful work environment by demonstrating ethical behavior and maintaining confidentiality
  • Exhibit sound judgment in decision-making for the benefit of customers, the team, and the business
  • Engage actively in training and development and cross-training in various departments for effective leadership support
  • Continuously coach associates on merchandising, company expectations, and service standards
  • Effectively implement company directives within specified time frames
  • Establish strong relationships with internal and external partners
  • Stay informed about promotions and ensure correct processing at the Point of Sale
  • Lead new product launches as a subject matter expert
  • Ensure accurate and timely placement of marketing and promotion signage
  • Handle all forms of communication promptly
  • Perform ear piercings safely and hygienically after comprehensive training (at select locations)
  • Carry out management duties including opening and closing procedures, point of sale management, floor management, and coordinating breaks
  • Assist in driving sales and customer loyalty through various strategies and programs
  • Complete tasks as assigned by superiors
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prior experience in specialty retail is preferred
  • A college degree is an advantage
  • Demonstrate multitasking abilities and a customer-centric focus
  • Adaptability to change
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and POS Systems
  • Ability to move around the sales floor and stockroom for extended periods
  • Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Strong teamwork and leadership skills
  • Professionalism and adherence to dress code standards
  • Resourcefulness, problem-solving skills, and initiative
  • Attention to detail and ability to work autonomously
  • Capability to lift and handle medium to large items up to 50 lbs. safely
  • Willingness to travel for store-related activities
