Retail Visual Merchandising Leader

As a Department Manager, you play a vital role in this mission by delivering outstanding service, achieving sales goals, and maintaining company standards in a dynamic retail environment under the leadership of the Store Team Leader.
The role of Department Managers encompasses a variety of responsibilities. These include creating a unique shopping experience through the G.U.E.S.T. service approach, nurturing high-performing teams to meet sales targets, managing payroll effectively, training staff thoroughly, ensuring visual merchandising standards are upheld, streamlining operational processes, and ensuring compliance with The Paper Store's mission, standards, and policies.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as a TPS Champion by exemplifying the G.U.E.S.T. service approach and consistently delivering World Class Service
- Greet and welcome each customer with warmth and enthusiasm
- Identify customer needs through engaging questions
- Communicate product features and benefits that align with customer needs
- Suggest additional items to enhance sales using effective techniques
- Show appreciation sincerely and encourage repeat visits
- Build customer loyalty by being friendly, attentive, and respectful
- Foster a respectful workplace by demonstrating ethical behavior and maintaining confidentiality
- Exercise sound judgment in decision-making for the benefit of customers, the team, and the business
- Engage actively in training and development and cross-training in various departments for effective leadership support
- Continuously educate and mentor associates on merchandising, company expectations, and service standards
- Implement company directives efficiently within designated time frames
- Establish strong relationships with internal and external partners
- Stay updated on promotions and ensure accurate processing at the Point of Sale
- Lead new product launches as a subject matter expert
- Ensure timely and accurate placement of marketing and promotional signage
- Manage all forms of communication promptly
- Perform ear piercings safely and hygienically after comprehensive training (at select locations)
- Execute management duties including opening and closing procedures, point of sale management, floor management, and coordinating breaks
- Assist in driving sales and customer loyalty through various strategies and programs
- Complete tasks as assigned by superiors
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Prior experience in specialty retail is preferred
- A college degree is advantageous
- Demonstrate multitasking abilities and a customer-centric focus
- Adaptability to change is essential
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and POS Systems
- Ability to navigate the sales floor and stockroom for extended periods
- Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays
- Strong teamwork and leadership skills are necessary
- Professionalism and adherence to dress code standards are expected
- Resourcefulness, problem-solving skills, and initiative are crucial
- Attention to detail and the ability to work independently are important
- Capability to lift and handle medium to large items up to 50 lbs. safely
- Willingness to travel for store-related activities is required
