We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Residential Security Officer to join our team at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. As a key member of our Housing and Residential Services team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and security of our students and staff.
Key Responsibilities- Monitor and patrol designated dormitories to prevent and report any unsafe incidents or conditions.
- Enforce security protocols and respond to emergencies, such as fires, medical emergencies, and hazardous materials incidents.
- Monitor security cameras, fire and smoke alarms, window locks, and interior and exterior lights.
- Report maintenance and repair needs to the facilities team.
- Interact with students and visitors to enforce policies and procedures.
- Submit written and electronic reports on incidents and unusual occurrences.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, colleagues, and customers.
- Ability to read and understand written directions, safety signage, and other documents.
- Ability to use job-specific technology after receiving necessary training.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- One year of relevant experience.
This position requires frequent sitting, standing, and walking, often for long periods of time. You will also be required to lift and move weights of up to 50 pounds.
Rate of Pay$30.70 per hour.
ScheduleFriday to Tuesday, 12:00 A.M. to 8:00 A.M. (Wednesday and Thursday off).
