Job Summary:

Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) is seeking an Assistant Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) Coordinator to join the Mechanical Engineering department. The successful candidate will assist with the day-to-day oversight of the EHS management system, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and promoting a culture of safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Actively promote a culture of safety and share EHS best practices with the MechE community.
  • Facilitate and monitor compliance with EHS laws and regulations, as well as MIT EHS best practices.
  • Work with the EHS coordinator to serve as a resource to the MechE community and provide support for EHS-related activities.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of EHS policies and procedures.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, EHS, or related discipline.
  • At least three years of relevant experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to learn specialized computer applications for EHS requirements.
  • Excellent organizational, administrative, problem-solving, interpersonal, and written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with semiconductor device fabrication, biology, and/or chemistry.
  • Lab experience in a professional setting.
  • Proficiency with document and data management tools (e.g., Microsoft SharePoint sites, wikis, QuickBase).
