Job Description:

Connecticut REAP invites candidates to apply for a full-time Senior Accountant position.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Accounting and Financial Management:
    • Oversee all accounting functions, including purchasing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, fixed assets, financial statements, and the chart of accounts.
    • Assist with routine business office operations: journal entries, bank deposits, cash transfers, bank reconciliations, and budget transfers.
    • Contribute to the monthly financial close process by reviewing account balances, reconciling balance sheet accounts, and preparing month-end journal entries.
  • Grant Management:
    • Manage grant accounting: identifying expenses, processing fund requests, allocating funds, and adhering to grant compliance.
    • Coordinate with other departments to ensure accurate grant reporting and compliance with state regulations.
  • Budgeting and Fiscal Oversight:
    • Work closely with the Director of Finance and Operations and other departments to create and manage budgets and various accounting transactions.
    • Assist in the development and preparation of the annual budget.
    • Provide support during the fiscal year-end closing and assist with audit preparation (e.g., supporting schedules, documentation).
  • Reporting and Audits:
    • Assist in preparing Federal, State, and Local Financial Reports, including but not limited to the End of School Year Financial Report (EFS) and State Construction Grants.
    • Participate in accounting software user groups and contribute to system improvements.
    • Support the Director of Food Services in preparing required financial reports for food service activities.
  • Policy and Procedure Development:
    • Document key policies and procedures, recommending enhancements to internal controls where applicable.
  • Special Projects and Other Duties:
    • Provide support to the Director of Finance and Operations.
    • Maintain a strong understanding of EFS, Special Education Excess Cost, eGMS, and the related financial implications.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
