Project Overview

The Ohio Ecological Services Field Office is seeking two highly motivated and detail-oriented individuals to join our team as Wildlife and Pollinator Outreach Interns. This is a unique opportunity to work on a variety of projects, including conservation and outreach, while gaining valuable experience in field techniques, environmental education, and data management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with investigations, including data collection and analysis, to assess the effectiveness of conservation efforts for threatened and endangered species and pollinators.
  • Develop and maintain biological databases, preparing spreadsheets and relational databases for data collection, reduction, and manipulation.
  • Create and conduct environmental education programs in Columbus parks and schools, with opportunities to assist with outreach at Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge.
  • Engage with the public at community events, providing educational materials and promoting conservation efforts.
  • Work with a Hispanic Access Program Associate, participating in scheduled conference calls, webinars, and meetings, and capturing photos and/or videos for reporting purposes.
Requirements
  • Knowledge of or strong interest in biological field work, botany, and pollinators.
  • Knowledge of or strong interest in outreach and development of environmental education materials.
  • Ability to work with people of all ages and experience working with the public.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience or strong interest in database management, data analysis, and synthesis.
Benefits
  • A biweekly stipend of $1,200 based on a 40-hour workweek.
  • Monthly housing stipend up to $800 per month.
  • Commuting stipend of up to $25/week.
