We are currently seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Applications Engineer to join our Morris Midwest division, which specializes in CNC machine tools, tooling, accessories, and comprehensive engineering support services. This position will be based in the Elgin, IL area and offers a unique opportunity to thrive in a vibrant and rapidly evolving industry.

Key Responsibilities:

As an Applications Engineer, your primary duties will include:

  • Coordinating and planning the design and installation of machinery and equipment in industrial settings, utilizing cutting-edge instruments and advanced computer systems.
  • Conducting pre-sales activities, including customer consultations, opportunity evaluations, machine assessments, and the development of tailored proposals.
  • Preparing precise cost estimates, drafting engineering reports, and interpreting technical plans and specifications.
  • Programming and configuring CNC lathes and both vertical and horizontal CNC mills.
  • Creating and delivering custom demonstrations, as well as training clients on the safe setup and operation of CNC machining centers and lathes.
  • Maintaining a comprehensive technical understanding of the product lines offered by the company.
Qualifications:
  • A minimum of a 2-year Technical Degree in Manufacturing Technology is preferred.
  • At least 3 years of experience in machine programming and setup, with a preference for Okuma/Tsugami experience.
  • Familiarity with Fanuc and Mitsubishi control systems.
  • Experience in CAM programming and G&M code programming.
  • Willingness to travel, with an expected split of 80% home and 20% at customer sites.
  • Openness to training on additional machine types beyond our primary offerings.
