As an Acme Screw Machine Technician, your primary duties will encompass the setup and operation of Acme Screw machines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Examine blueprints and Job Routings to determine part specifications and order requirements.
  • Employ various measuring tools to confirm parts meet specified standards.
  • Configure collets, pushers, gears, cams, tool holders, and any essential tooling to manufacture parts according to print specifications.
  • Modify and adjust all tooling as necessary.
  • Verify the conformity of initial piece production, ensuring all dimensions align with print specifications using suitable measuring instruments.
  • Dismantle setups upon job completion.
  • Sharpen or replace worn tooling as required.
  • Inspect parts to ensure compliance with print specifications.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the machine and work area daily
    Ensure an organized workspace
    Keep the floor around the machine free of oil.
  • Assist and mentor fellow team members.
  • Follow all safety protocols and procedures
    Promptly report any unsafe conditions or actions to a supervisor.
  • Learn and apply preventive maintenance on machinery and tooling to prevent damage
    Inform the department supervisor of any repair needs.
Compensation and Shift Details
  • Starting salary ranges from $20 to $26 per hour based on experience.
  • 1st shift from 6:00am to 4:30pm, Monday to Thursday.
  • Willingness to work overtime on Fridays when necessary.
  • Potential for permanent employment with the organization.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • At least 3 years of prior experience in setting up and operating Acme Gridley Screw Machines.
  • Proficient in tooling and attachments such as Dovetail forms, floating shave, knee tools, knurling, tapping, thread rolling, accelerated reaming, and recess and pick-off attachments.
  • Ability to set up machines from print to finished product, including cams, gears, attachments, and tooling for the final part.
  • Capability to independently lift 50 lbs and stand for up to a 10-hour shift.
  • Competence in reading blueprints and using inspection tools
    Basic math skills are essential.
