Position Overview

The Patient Financial Services Consultant (PFSC) serves as the primary liaison for patients from the moment a physician's order is placed until the billing process is fully completed.

The PFSC will conduct a thorough assessment of patients' health insurance plans, which includes confirming benefits, checking prior authorization status, and determining patients' out-of-pocket expenses.

The PFSC will educate patients and provide a clear estimate of their financial obligations for all services, including office visits, tests, diagnostic studies, surgeries, and procedures through various communication methods such as phone calls, written correspondence, and MyChart.

The PFSC will facilitate payment collection or establish payment plans in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Required Experience

A minimum of 3 years of experience in healthcare revenue cycle management, health insurance, patient financial obligations, and point-of-service collections, specifically with health insurance providers.

Proficiency in utilizing payer online portals, as well as systems like NaviNet, Passport, or other third-party eligibility platforms is essential.

Intermediate understanding of medical terminology, health insurance plans, and patient financial responsibilities is required.

Experience with the EPIC system is preferred.

Demonstrated ability to effectively engage with and provide exceptional service to patients, clinicians, physicians, and administrative staff.

Educational Qualifications

A High School Diploma is required. An Associate's degree or equivalent experience is preferred.

Special Skills

Detail-oriented with the capability to manage multiple tasks across various information systems.

Excellent time management, organizational, and communication skills, both oral and written.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word and Excel.

Demonstrated customer service skills, with the ability to embody Cooper's values when interacting with patients, internal stakeholders, and healthcare providers.
