Clinical Support Specialist

Key Responsibilities

- Ensures a suitable clinical atmosphere for patient care by keeping the patient area organized and maintaining cleanliness in the work environment, including examination and treatment rooms.
- Conducts patient care tasks within the scope of the role and under direct supervision, which may include but is not limited to measuring vital signs, recording height and weight, performing phlebotomy, and other procedures necessary for client health assessments.
- Aids patients and their families in navigating the clinic and managing appointments, as well as escorting patients to the checkout area.
- Prepares medical records for physicians and nurse practitioners, ensuring that all laboratory, pathology, imaging, testing, and surgical reports/results, along with the clinic summary report, are printed and accessible for provider review prior to patient visits. Chart preparation should be maintained at least 5 days in advance and reviewed for completeness within 2 days of the patient appointment to guarantee all reports/results are included.
- Manages and orders clinic supplies, assisting with the maintenance of supply levels as needed. This includes stocking clinic areas and proper waste disposal, while adhering to Standard Precautions to reduce the risk of exposure to infectious materials and safely disposing of needles, syringes, and other items used in specimen collection.
- Rigorously follows hospital protocols regarding patient identification verification before rooming patients and collecting specimens. When obtaining specimens, ensures they are correctly labeled with patient identifiers, date and time of collection, and initials.
Required Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent.
Completion of a Certified Medical Assistant Program.
1-3 years of relevant experience.
Required Certifications
Certified Medical Assistant.
Current CPR certification from the American Heart Association or the ability to obtain it within 30 days of employment.
