Job Title: Affordable Housing Case Manager

At the Housing Authority of Salt Lake City, we are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Affordable Housing Case Manager to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will play a critical role in ensuring the success of our Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program.

Job Summary:

The Affordable Housing Case Manager is responsible for managing a caseload of HCV program participants, documenting and monitoring continued eligibility, calculating rent levels, and ensuring program compliance. This position requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct initial, annual, and interim re-examinations of income and family composition through interviews and collection of documentation.
  • Educate participants on program policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Collect, review, verify, and calculate income, assets, and deductions, and maintain correspondence records.
  • Accurately enter all housing and income-related information into the software system and maintain complete and accurate files.
  • Calculate housing assistance payment (HAP) and tenant rent portion in accordance with HUD regulations and housing authority policy.
  • Complete rent reasonable market study comparisons and coordinate with HASLC Inspectors to schedule timely inspections.
  • Utilize HUD software, investigate allegations of fraud, and provide complete and accurate files with summary and case analysis.
  • Research, investigate, and resolve concerns or complaints between landlords, participants, and the housing authority.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent, and two years' experience in social services, administrative/customer service, or a related housing industry position.
  • Self-starter with an ability to maintain organized records with efficiency and accuracy under pressure of deadlines.
  • Effective conflict resolution skills with a high degree of tact and diplomacy.
  • Ability to work with confidential and sensitive information.
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask and creative problem-solving.
  • Make accurate mathematical calculations.
  • Accurately interpret and follow regulations relating to the HCV (Section 8) Program.
  • Work effectively with people from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Interpersonal skills with ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated skills in Microsoft Office Suite software (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
