The Administrative Support Specialist provides standard and routine clerical and administrative support to the Residential Services department at Northwestern University. This role serves as a primary contact for residents and visitors, providing information and assistance with various tasks and requests.
Key Responsibilities- Customer Service: Provide prompt, courteous, and timely customer service to residents and visitors, answering questions and resolving issues in a professional and respectful manner.
- Administrative Support: Perform various administrative tasks, including data entry, filing, copying, and ordering supplies, as well as maintaining inventory and managing resident key control.
- Communication: Serve as a liaison between residents, visitors, and department staff, communicating effectively and efficiently to resolve issues and provide information.
- Problem-Solving: Identify and analyze resident housing-related problems and direct them to the appropriate resources or personnel for resolution.
- Documentation: Prepare and type form letters, memos, emails, labels, and routine correspondence, as well as maintain accurate records and reports.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; some college or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
- Experience: 1 year of administrative support or other relevant experience required.
- Skills: Basic knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, email, and database software programs; excellent customer service skills; ability to work in a shared workspace and independently as needed.
