Job Title: Project Quality Control Manager
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Project Quality Control Manager to join our team at Southwest Concrete Paving Co. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the highest quality standards are met on our construction projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement and enforce the Quality Control Plan for the project
- Oversee and ensure quality control for all project activities
- Manage daily quality reports and delegate tasks to supporting staff
- Manage the USACE/NAVFAC Three Phase Quality Control Process, including preparatory meetings, initial and follow-up inspections, and creating required documentation
- Manage documentation of work and required submittals with office staff and NAVFAC/USACE interface software
- Oversee testing and coordinate with on-site third-party labs
- Manage, schedule, and direct the activities of direct subordinates on the project site
- Ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, and contract documents
- Determine, communicate, and document deficiencies and ensure they are corrected in a timely manner
- Maintain current records providing factual evidence that required quality control activities and/or tests have been performed
- Participate in and document completion inspections, punch-out, pre-final, and final acceptance
- Act as liaison and point of contact for NAVFAC/USACE and SWCP
- Track required submittals, project RFIs, and contract changes/change orders/VEs for the project and disseminate information and implementation to the project team
- Monitor all scheduled activities, plans, weather, materials, deliveries, and construction methods to ensure the highest quality project can be delivered
- Conduct business with 100% integrity
Requirements:
- Experience working on USACE construction projects with at least 5 years' experience as a QC manager on USACE construction projects
- 10 years combined experience as a superintendent, QC manager, project manager, or project engineer on military or FAA airfield projects
- 5 years airfield concrete pavement experience as a QC Manager
- Current USACE Construction Quality Management for Contractors Certification
- Proficiency with RMS 3.0 and ECMS
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Legally eligible to work in the United States
- A valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Able to pass a drug test - SWP is a drug-free environment
- Able to obtain Federal Clearance to access Military Installations
- Current certification for, or ability to take and pass ACI Transportation Inspector certification
- Proven abilities and skills in leadership and management of people, communication (verbal and written), planning, and organization
- Proficiency in all MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Ability to set standards of excellence in leadership, safety, quality, and productivity for the Project Team
- Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner; gather and analyze information skillfully; develop alternative solutions; work well in group problem-solving situations; use reason even when dealing with emotional topics
- Write clearly and informatively; edit work for spelling and grammar; vary writing style to meet needs; present numerical data effectively; able to read and interpret written information
- Speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations, listen and obtain clarification, and respond well to questions
- Ability to interface effectively with all levels of management
- Ability to establish trust and interface effectively with Owners and Customers
- Willingness to travel throughout the western United States and possibly overseas when required
Working Conditions:
This is a fast-paced working environment. We come to work to work. The working conditions will include travel to all parts of the western United States and possibly abroad (primarily pacific islands). Hours will be mandated by project activities but night work will be required, some weekend work will be required, and some extended hours will be required. This will be a salaried position where the right applicant will be directly supervising and scheduling the activities of one to two individuals on the project site. There will be some exposure to normal construction materials such as concrete, cement, fly ash, slag cement, aggregates, epoxies, solvents, etc. There will be exposure to loud noises both from construction equipment and nearby jet engines. There will be exposure to weather both hot and cold as this position will require extended outdoor working hours. There will be times where close quarter contact will be required such as working in small office trailers. At times the primary access to restrooms will be on-site j-johns.
