Heavy Equipment Paver Mechanic

We are seeking a highly skilled Quality Control Manager to join our team at Southwest Concrete Paving Co. As a Quality Control Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring that our airfield projects meet the highest standards of quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities:- Implement and reinforce the Quality Control Plan of the Project.
- Oversee and ensure QC for all the activities of the project.
- Manage QC daily reports and delegate to supporting staff required duties.
- Manage the USACE/NAVFAC Three Phase Quality Control Process, which may include preparatory meetings, initial and follow-up inspections, and create all required documentation on all definable features of work.
- Manage documentation of work and required submittals with office staff and NAVFAC/USACE interface software.
- Oversee testing and coordinate with the activities of the on-site third-party lab.
- Managing, scheduling, and directing the activities of direct subordinates on the project site.
- Know and understand project plans, specifications, and other contract documents.
- Ensure compliance to contract plans, specifications, relevant ASTM, COE, and applicable test procedures, as well as additional relevant contract documents.
- Determine, communicate, and document deficiencies and ensure they are corrected in a timely manner.
- Maintain current records providing factual evidence that required quality control activities and/or tests have been performed.
- Participate and document all completion inspections, punch-out, pre-final, and final acceptance.
- Act as liaison and a point of contact for the NAVFAC/USACE and SWCP.
- Track required submittals, project RFI's, and any contract changes/change orders/VE's for project and help to disseminate information and implementation to project team.
- Monitor all scheduled activities, plans, weather, materials, deliveries, and construction methods to assure highest quality project can be delivered.
- Conduct business with 100% integrity.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Experience working on USACE construction projects with at least 5 years' experience as a QC manager on USACE construction projects.
- 10 years combined experience as a superintendent, QC manager, project manager, or project engineer on military or FAA airfield projects.
- 5 years airfield concrete pavement experience as a QC Manager.
- Current USACE Construction Quality Management for Contractors Certification.
- Proficiency with RMS 3.0 and ECMS. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Legally eligible to work in the United States.
- A valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Able to pass a drug test - SWP is a drug-free environment.
- Able to obtain Federal Clearance to access Military Installations.
- Current certification for, or ability to take and pass ACI Transportation Inspector certification.
- Proven abilities and skills in the following: leadership and management of people, communication (verbal and written), planning, and organization.
- Proficiency in all MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Ability to set standards of excellence in leadership, safety, quality, and productivity for the Project Team.
- Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner; gather and analyze information skillfully; develop alternative solutions; work well in group problem-solving situations; uses reason even when dealing with emotional topics.
- Write clearly and informatively; edit work for spelling and grammar; vary writing style to meet needs; present numerical data effectively; able to read and interpret written information.
- Speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations, listen and obtain clarification, and respond well to questions.
- Ability to interface effectively with all levels of management.
- Ability to establish trust and interface effectively with Owners and Customers.
- Willingness to travel throughout the western United States and possibly overseas when required.
This is a fast-paced working environment. We come to work to work. The working conditions will include travel to all parts of the western United States and possibly abroad (primarily pacific islands). Hours will be mandated by project activities but night work will be required, some weekend work will be required, and some extended hours will be required. This will be a salaried position where the right applicant will be directly supervising and scheduling the activities of one to two individuals on the project site. There will be some exposure to normal construction materials such as concrete, cement, fly ash, slag cement, aggregates, epoxies, solvents, etc. There will be exposure to loud noises both from construction equipment and nearby jet engines. There will be exposure to weather both hot and cold as this position will require extended outdoor working hours. There will be times where close-quarter contact will be required such as working in small office trailers. At times, the primary access to restrooms will be on-site j-johns.
