Commercial Bank Internship Opportunity

First Citizens Bank and Silicon Valley Bank are seeking highly motivated and talented individuals to join their Commercial Bank Internship Program. This 9-week internship provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in commercial banking, develop professional skills, and build a strong network of contacts in the industry.
Responsibilities- Rotate through various Innovation Economy and Commercial Bank job responsibilities, enhancing knowledge through formal training and practical application through on-the-job experience.
- Gain direct client experience or interaction through client qualification, account opening, and client support.
- Understand the end-to-end loan process and how Risk, particularly Credit Risk, applies in a Commercial Bank environment.
- Focus on building skills in professional presence, core knowledge about First Citizens and the Commercial Bank, client engagement, credit underwriting and policy, portfolio management, and risk.
- Meet and engage with senior and executive leaders of the bank.
- Be immersed in First Citizens sales approach with opportunities to learn about various lines of business to deliver products and services to customers.
- Attend professional development sessions, informational sessions, networking, and community service events.
- Have a dedicated manager and program manager to help navigate the bank and the internship program.
- Be assigned a project to improve a specific process or solve a problem to present at the close of the internship.
- Prepare a wrap-up presentation to share with the division leader and other key stakeholders to outline accomplishments and experience during the internship.
- High School Diploma or GED and 1 year of experience.
- Currently enrolled at an accredited collegiate institution during the time of the summer program.
- Ability to work 40 hours per week during the duration of the program.
- Expectation of at least 3 days a week in office.
- 3.0 minimum GPA.
- 3 years of college experience (rising senior).
- Strong desire to learn and grow.
- Possess a positive attitude, naturally curious, and enjoys collaborating with others.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Critical thinking skills.
- Ability to multitask.
- Ability to adapt and adjust priorities based on business needs.
- Ability to take direction and absorb information quickly.
The base pay for this position is relative to experience, but the range is generally $20.39/hr - $31.19/hr. This position is not eligible for the benefits program. Summer housing stipend is available for hires meeting eligibility requirements.
