The Sous Chef is a key member of the culinary team at Parkhurst Dining, responsible for assisting in the oversight of food production and supervision of hourly team members. This role requires a strong focus on quality, quantity, and timeliness of daily meal production, adhering to Parkhurst standards and strict sanitary guidelines.
Key Responsibilities- Manage and direct culinary staff to ensure standards and quality are being followed.
- Assist in purchasing food, paper, cleaning, bakery, and safety items within budgeted levels.
- Collaborate with the Executive Chef on menu development, production sheets, and recipe standards.
- Conduct regular inspections of the unit for sanitation, cleanliness, temperatures, and adherence to checklists.
- Verify recipe consistency and quality control.
- Review production sheets and daily menu plans.
- Coordinate special events and catering needs.
- Maintain open communication with management on product and supply needs.
- Follow uniform dress code and maintain proper personal hygiene.
- Supervise staff and adhere to coaching and discipline methods.
- Assist with onboarding and training of new kitchen team members.
- Three or more years of culinary experience.
- High school or GED.
- Ability to organize workloads and meet time deadlines.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Experience with Microsoft software programs.
The Sous Chef will be exposed to high noise, heat, and humidity levels, and will be required to lift objects up to 50 lbs, bend, reach, and grasp, and stand for long periods on hard surfaces.
