NARO, a renowned restaurant in the heart of Rockefeller Center, is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Sous Chef to join our team. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for assisting the Head Chef in leading the kitchen, ensuring exceptional food quality, and maintaining a high level of service.

Job Overview

We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Sous Chef who is committed to delivering outstanding culinary experiences. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, excellent leadership skills, and a passion for creating memorable dining experiences.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Head Chef in leading the culinary team, ensuring seamless service execution, and maintaining high standards of food quality.
  • Coach and mentor team members, promoting a culture of development and continuous learning.
  • Effectively communicate with the team, prioritizing tasks, and managing demands to ensure timely completion of daily tasks.
  • Oversee quality and consistency in all food production and execution, ensuring that all stations are set up and prepared for a successful service.
  • Assist in ordering and inventory management, reviewing products daily to ensure quality meets kitchen standards.
  • Manage back-of-house team members, including recruiting, hiring, scheduling, training, and performance reviews.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Chef and Head Chef on menu development, ensuring alignment with the restaurant's goals and objectives.
Requirements
  • At least 2 years of fine dining service experience, preferably in a Sous Chef role.
  • Passion for creating exceptional guest experiences through cooking.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, maintaining a high level of quality and focus.
  • Extensive knowledge of cooking techniques, ingredient sourcing, and menu development.
  • NYC Department of Health Food Protection Certification and a strong understanding of best practices for maintaining excellent restaurant hygiene conditions.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and/or Google Workplace.
