Construction Project Accountant - Leading Contractor

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review and process invoices for a designated portfolio of projects.
  • Ensure accurate monthly billing for projects in accordance with contracts.
  • Reconcile job cost reports, including labor, materials, subcontractor expenses, and overhead.
  • Record monthly billing and payables into the accounting system prior to month-end.
  • Familiarity with AIA G702/G703 Application for Payment Billing/Requisition process.
  • Process and distribute payments to subcontractors upon receipt of project funds.
  • Track Notices to Owners and Releases for subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Review project management software for Subcontracts and Change Orders.
  • Maintain accuracy of project contract amounts in accounting software.
  • Keep precise project-related records, including contracts and change orders.
  • Analyze project budgets against actual expenses and collaborate with project managers on discrepancies.
  • Record general ledger and job cost journal entries as necessary.
  • Respond promptly to inquiries from the project team.
  • Extract data from accounting software for team use on additional platforms.
  • Manage insurance policy program and verify data.
  • Follow up on outstanding accounts receivable with teammates and clients.
  • Monitor risk management items and notify management of concerns.
  • Research and stay informed about multi-state lien laws.
  • Communicate effectively across the company to meet expectations and deadlines.
  • Foster professional relationships internally and externally.
  • Produce consistent, high-quality work that meets or exceeds standards.
  • Encourage a culture of inclusion where all opinions are valued.
  • Promote a positive company image through actions and communications.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting preferred, along with at least 2 years of construction accounting experience.
  • Experience with SAGE 300 CRE, Timberscan, Procure, AIA Form, Textura, and Acumatica is advantageous.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Strong mathematical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Basic data entry skills.
  • Excellent organizational capabilities.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong time management skills and punctuality.
  • Demonstrated initiative and professionalism.
