Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Chemical Operator I to join our team. As a Chemical Operator I, you will be responsible for operating equipment to control and blend chemicals in the processing of products. This includes cleaning and loading tanker trailers, material staging, tote washing, receiving, and putting materials into storage locations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support Environmental, Health, Safety, and LEAN programs, policies, and regulations.
  • Control and adjust equipment units to ensure quality and product yields.
  • Monitor and calibrate recording instruments, flow meters, and process indicators.
  • Operate chemical blending processes and turn valves to regulate flow.
  • Calculate material requirements and record operating data.
  • Confer with technical and management to resolve conditions affecting safety, efficiency, and product quality.
  • Draw samples and conduct quality control tests to ensure standards are met.
  • Regulate or shut down equipment during emergency situations.
  • Start pumps to transfer material and wash tanks.
  • Interpret chemical-blended products and review laboratory test reports.
  • Patrol work areas to prevent tank overflows.
  • Notify maintenance and other personnel to correct equipment malfunctions.
  • Document tank levels regularly.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent GED.
  • Minimum 6-month related batch chemical blending/formulation experience with hazardous materials.
  • SAP experience required.
  • Able to operate a forklift safely.
  • Able to lift 50lbs daily.
  • Ability to work overtime when needed.
  • Ability to wear a respirator as required.
  • Ability to operate a fork truck.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate Degree (two-year college or technical school).
  • 2 years' related batch chemical blending/formulation experience with hazardous materials.
  • 1-year analytical testing experience.
  • Ability to direct the flow of production.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • Attention to detail and proficient math skills.
  • Proficient with computer, SAP, and Microsoft Office skills.
  • Team player, individual thinker.
  • Customer-focused; positive attitude.

Working Conditions

  • Standing for 8-hour shifts.
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs frequently.
  • Working with hazardous chemicals.
  • Working near moving machines.
