Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager II and Squad Leader to join our team at HNTB. As a key member of our Structures Group, you will be responsible for managing assigned projects throughout their full lifecycle, including developing project scope and technical sections of proposal and procurement documents, participating in contract negotiations, and overseeing the delivery of the project plan to successfully accomplish HNTB's 4 for 4 performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage project budget, schedule, technical requirements, contractual obligations, and client communications in support of project objectives.
  • Provide high-level technical tasks while managing and reviewing design-related specifications, calculations, reports, and plans.
  • Coordinate with internal and external partners, including cross-discipline and functional teams, to address and problem-solve design-related issues or concerns.
  • Lead and supervise five to eight professionals within the Structures Group.
  • Coordinate project priorities, staffing schedules, and staff assignments to ensure clients are provided the proper resources at the appropriate time.
  • Responsible for technical coaching and mentoring and efficient, productive utilization of staff in providing high-quality service.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 10 years of relevant experience.
  • 2 years of successful management of engineering projects.
  • Experience winning, contracting, and successfully delivering on multi-disciplined projects from concept through construction.
  • Ability to identify and mitigate risk and change management, with guidance from more experienced staff.
  • Leading a team on mid-sized and/or moderately complex projects, including sub-consultants.
  • Supervising, developing, and coordinating team members.
  • Reviewing and checking engineering work completed by others.
  • Building effective client relationships by working collaboratively with the client and multidiscipline teams and developing successors to work with the same client on other work.
  • Coordinating project budgets, schedules, and scopes of work with the client and between disciplines.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 12 years of relevant experience on MaineDOT, VTrans, and/or NHDOT bridge projects.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Project management experience on bridge projects.
  • Supervisory experience.
