About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Embedded 5G/4G Cellular RF Software/Firmware Engineer to join our team at Apple. As a key member of our silicon design group, you will be responsible for designing and productizing powerful cellular SoCs.

Key Responsibilities
  • RF Firmware Architecture: Specify, design, and implement the RF firmware architecture of an innovative mobile wireless communications system.
  • RF Processing Algorithms: Design, develop, and optimize the RF processing algorithms pertaining to transceiver, RF front end, antenna tuners, and other RF components in a cellular system.
  • RF Device Drivers: Implement RF device drivers and control software for RF transceivers and RF front end components with precise timing requirements.
  • Collaboration: Work with RF silicon designers to define RF transceiver architecture and supporting software computing requirements, and with systems and IC designers to optimize power optimization for all RF circuitry in the cellular system.
  • Team Leadership: Provide technical leadership for a team size of 4-5, managing schedule and assignments for team members, and delivering end-to-end features with some cross-functional impact and managing dependencies.
Requirements
  • Education: Minimum BS and 10+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • Knowledge: Strong knowledge of mobile communications in 4G/5G 3GPP protocols and PHY layer radio aspects, communication theory, wireless standards, radio architecture, and interfaces.
  • Skills: In-depth experience with control of RF transceiver and RF front end components for 4G/5G data path processing, understanding of RF calibrations for gain error and techniques for compensating RF impairments, and deep understanding of software engineering principles and core computer science fundamentals.
  • Tools: Excellent command of C and C++, working experience with compilers, build, and source code control tools, and proficiency with debugging in embedded software systems.
