As a key member of a cutting-edge modem team, you will develop advanced embedded firmware that enhances the performance of our products significantly. Your work will span various disciplines to merge improved hardware components into a cohesive design.
In this role, you will contribute to the innovation of new wireless systems technologies that consistently exceed previous benchmarks. By collaborating with diverse product development teams, you will help redefine the capabilities of wireless systems and elevate the product experience for customers globally.
As a Wireless RF Firmware Validation Engineer within the physical layer and RF validation team, you will play a pivotal role in the embedded 5G/4G/multimode cellular firmware initiatives within a silicon design group focused on creating and commercializing innovative cellular SoCs.
This position is ideal for someone who is adept in all facets of RF Integration and validation, thrives in a dynamic multi-functional environment, engages in open discussions about ideas, and can adapt to rapidly changing requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as a vital member of the RF Integration and triage team, ensuring high-quality tracking of RF software performance for each release.
- Conduct issue triage and debugging for all RF functional challenges.
- Automate and implement RF test cases while logging results on Continuous Integration systems.
- Define, design, and develop signaling mode test coverage for all new features aligned with R17 & R18 3GPP standards.
- Collaborate with various testing teams, including product and compliance tests, to achieve optimal coverage and efficient delivery.
- Engage with multiple test systems from various test equipment vendors.
- Work closely with a multi-disciplinary organization, including Firmware, Cellular/RF systems, and hardware designers, to establish end-to-end feature testing mechanisms.
A Bachelor’s degree and over 10 years of relevant industry experience.
Proficient understanding of mobile communications within 4G/5G 3GPP protocols, as well as Physical layer and Radio Test aspects.
Experience with RF Test metrics for Cellular Modems and 3GPP RF Test case development across 2G/3G/4G/5G.
Familiarity with Test Automation and Continuous Integration setup.
Strong command of scripting languages, particularly Python.
The ability to triage and debug embedded software systems is advantageous.
Solid knowledge of communication theory, wireless standards, radio architecture, and interfaces.

Compensation & Benefits:
At Apple, base pay is one component of our total compensation package and is determined within a specified range. This allows for growth as you develop within your role.
The base pay range for this position is between $166,600 and $296,300, with actual pay depending on skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
Apple employees have the opportunity to become shareholders through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs. Employees are also eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards and can purchase Apple stock at a discount through the Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
