In your role as a Firmware Integration Engineer focused on 5G/4G physical layer technologies, you will be integral to the embedded firmware initiatives within a silicon design team dedicated to creating powerful cellular System on Chips (SoCs).

This role demands expertise in all facets of embedded firmware verification and integration. You should thrive in a dynamic, multi-functional environment, be open to constructive discussions, and adapt to ever-evolving project requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with a team of validation, integration, protocol testing engineers, firmware developers, and systems engineers to establish firmware verification test cases and evaluate end-to-end physical layer performance.
  • Design and implement validation frameworks for 4G/5G firmware.
  • Create, develop, and execute test cases for 4G/5G firmware while diagnosing and analyzing issues encountered during testing.
  • Automate testing processes for 4G/5G User Equipment (UEs), test simulators, and gNodeBs.
  • Validate key protocols, signal processing, and numerical algorithms while adhering to strict time, latency, and energy constraints.
  • Collaborate with Systems and Firmware teams to validate both new and existing features.
  • Assist in the creation of pre-silicon emulation systems and virtual platforms for pre-silicon firmware design and hardware verification.
  • Evaluate and implement robust tools for building, formal verification, and testing.
Qualifications:

Minimum BS degree with over 10 years of relevant industry experience.

Deep understanding of 5G and 4G 3GPP physical layer and protocol stack procedures and configurations.

Experience in firmware test planning and feature release planning for functional and performance scenarios in 4G/5G.

Strong knowledge of automation tools and scripting languages such as Python, C/C++, and Java (preferred).

Solid understanding of various 4G/5G signaling and physical layer test equipment, including their automation interfaces.

Exceptional analytical and debugging skills to identify issues and collaborate with firmware development and systems design teams to resolve them.

Familiarity with build and source code control tools.

Ability to quickly learn new architectures and frameworks.

Experience with network emulators, silicon prototyping, emulation systems, and virtual platforms is a plus.

Compensation and Benefits:

At Apple, base pay is just one component of our comprehensive compensation package, which is determined within a range based on skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

The base pay range for this position is between $166,600 and $296,300.

Apple employees can also participate in discretionary employee stock programs, including restricted stock unit awards and discounted stock purchases through the Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
