Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Construction Surveying Specialist to join our team at MSA Professional Services, Inc. This role offers flexibility in location, including options for remote work, depending on the candidate's experience. The selected individual will be responsible for executing both field and office surveying tasks with precision and timeliness for our diverse clientele.

Key Responsibilities:
The essential functions of this role include:

  • Collecting data for surveys, topographical mapping, cross-sections, and utility locations for the preparation of plans and specifications.
  • Performing office tasks such as computations, field note reductions, and document management.
  • Assisting in the preparation of municipal plans and overseeing construction activities.
  • Gathering necessary field data for boundary retracement, land division platting, and topographic mapping.
  • Conducting construction staking for various projects, including municipal and private developments.
  • Executing bridge and hydraulic surveys of waterways.
  • Carrying out topographic surveys along highways, including drainage and safety assessments.
  • Supporting right-of-way and transportation project platting.
  • Managing projects, including estimating, scoping, scheduling, and quality control.
  • Engaging in office functions such as data processing, digital modeling, and survey map preparation.
  • Maintaining clear communication with clients, colleagues, and the public.

Qualifications:
What you will bring to the team:

  • Preferred educational background includes an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in surveying or a related field.
  • A Wisconsin Professional Land Surveyor license is required, or the ability to obtain one within six months of employment.
  • Additional licensure in Iowa and/or Illinois is advantageous.
  • A valid driver's license is mandatory.
  • At least six years of relevant surveying experience is required, or ten years without a degree.
  • Experience in commercial, residential, ALTA/NSPS, and local government boundary surveys is essential.
  • Familiarity with municipal infrastructure projects and construction staking is preferred.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or Trimble Business Center Basic is a plus.
  • Experience with GIS technology is beneficial.
  • Authorization to work in the United States is required; sponsorship is not available for this position.
