David Evans & Associates Inc. is actively seeking a Lead Survey Technician with a strong background in office support. This role involves overseeing a survey team conducting boundary, topographic, ALTA, right-of-way, and construction surveys for both public and private sector clients. The selected individual will play a crucial role in mentoring and guiding junior personnel to enhance their professional development within the surveying field. During periods between fieldwork, office responsibilities may be assigned to assist with project management and timelines, utilizing software such as Microsoft, Trimble Business Center, and AutoCAD or Microstation as applicable.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the primary coordinator and leader for survey crew members.
  • Possess a comprehensive understanding of field surveying methodologies and relevant state and federal regulations.
  • Expertise in the operation and upkeep of Trimble surveying instruments.
  • Proficient in electronic data collection techniques; capable of downloading and processing data files and executing complex survey calculations using various software applications (e.g., Trimble Business Center and AutoCAD).
  • Conduct thorough inspections of all field deliverables to ensure precision and correctness.
  • When applicable, perform research, calculations, and mapping for survey projects utilizing AutoCAD or Microstation.
  • As skills permit, prepare legal descriptions, exhibits, and other survey-related documents under the guidance of the Project Surveyor.
  • Carry out additional duties as assigned.
Essential Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in boundary, topographic, and construction surveying.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a survey field team.
  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Willingness to travel for work during the week, including occasional extended trips.
  • Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • LSIT certification.
  • Part 107 Certification.
  • Bachelor's degree in Surveying or a related discipline.
  • Experience with laser scanning technology.
  • Familiarity with UDOT Safety and Survey standards.
  • Experience in a survey office environment.
