Job Overview

Position Summary:

  • The Purchasing Specialist operates within the Procurement Division, which offers contracting guidance to various functional sectors within the organization.
  • This role assists the Procurement Manager and is accountable for supporting, implementing, and overseeing the strategy at the transactional level established by the Category Team.
  • The primary goal of this position is to lead through the execution of assigned transactions while applying process efficiencies.
  • Familiarize yourself with the Organization's sanctioned purchasing channels and contracting policies for goods and services, and assist requestors in navigating to the appropriate buying channel as identified by the Supplier Management Team.
  • Provide administrative support for purchasing initiatives and supplier management, including contract evaluations, bid summary justifications, and data analysis.
  • Uphold high ethical standards, ensuring compliance with laws, policies, and procedures.
  • Support the Category Team's strategy by enforcing the supplier preferred network, comprehending Category Team initiatives and priorities, possessing subject matter expertise, and educating stakeholders accordingly.
  • Review and negotiate Statements of Work and other agreements in alignment with the established category strategies, adhering to the financial spend level authorized for this position.
  • Manage standard Procure-to-Pay intake contract requests within the defined Service Level metrics.
  • Assist in executing process efficiency projects aimed at enhancing customer experience within the Procure-to-Pay process.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in procurement or negotiations, preferably in Purchasing, with a focus on Pharmaceutical sectors being advantageous.
  • Experience in Professional Services Procurement is a plus.
  • Proficient in MS Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
  • Experience in vendor negotiations is essential.
  • Understanding of contracting within the Indirect Procurement domain (Statements of Work, Master Agreements).
  • Ability to prioritize and manage workload across multiple projects effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Strong organizational skills necessary to coordinate and manage various cross-divisional work processes and projects.

Retirement Plan: The Synectics Inc. Investment Savings Retirement Plan allows all employees aged 21 and older to invest in the 401(k) Plan on the first enrollment date that is at least 30 days after employment begins, with enrollment dates occurring quarterly.

Certification Bonus: Synectics offers a bonus of up to $500 for approved professional certifications, considering the cost of tests related to the current position, achieved during employment. Only one Certification Bonus per calendar year may be awarded per employee, and it will be granted 90 days after documentation confirming successful completion is received.
