Position Summary: The Procurement Strategy Specialist plays a vital role within the North American Strategic Procurement team. This individual will be tasked with formulating, directing, and executing short- and medium-term purchasing strategies that yield optimal results in terms of personnel, processes, and expenditures for various industrial categories. Collaboration with internal stakeholders is essential to ensure alignment with established budgetary goals, policies, and guidelines under the supervision of the Senior Procurement Manager for Indirect categories.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement sourcing strategies for marketing-related expenditures, encompassing areas such as advertising, media, creative agencies, market research, and promotional materials.
  • Identify and assess potential suppliers, negotiate contracts, and cultivate long-term partnerships to guarantee cost-effectiveness and high-quality service delivery.
  • Work in conjunction with marketing teams to comprehend their budgetary requirements and objectives.
  • Execute cost-saving initiatives while maintaining the quality and effectiveness of marketing operations.
  • Analyze market trends to pinpoint opportunities for cost reductions and enhanced value for marketing investments.
  • Negotiate advantageous terms and conditions with suppliers, ensuring adherence to company policies and legal standards.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate supplier performance and promote continuous improvement.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate risks associated with marketing expenditures, including market volatility, supplier reliability, and geopolitical influences.
  • Collaborate closely with marketing, finance, and other relevant departments to align procurement strategies with overarching business objectives.
  • Facilitate effective communication and collaboration among diverse teams to enhance the marketing procurement process.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to a safe working environment that supports the health and well-being of all employees, contributing to the overall success of the organization.
  • Travel may be required as part of this role.

Qualifications:

  • University degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • 5 to 7 years of experience in a procurement role within a related field, preferably in the food industry.
  • Experience in Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Manufacturing and/or Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO) purchasing.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong initiative and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven leadership abilities and capacity to engage with various management levels and business scenarios.
  • Excellent organizational skills, capable of managing complex workloads.
  • Strong planning, project management, and execution capabilities.
  • In-depth understanding of key cost drivers.
  • High proficiency in contract management.
  • Effective negotiation skills with a solid grasp of contract lifecycle management and sourcing practices.
  • Willingness to travel within North America and internationally, approximately 20% of the time.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and French is an asset.
