Procurement Specialist

At Tempus, we are dedicated to transforming the utilization of genomic data within clinical environments. Our dynamic supply chain team is eager to welcome a new Procurement Specialist who will play a vital role in acquiring essential materials for our expanding operations.

Key Responsibilities:

● Oversee the procurement process for a designated range of laboratory supplies, services, and fixed assets, including sourcing, obtaining quotes, and purchasing.

● Execute purchase orders through our ERP system (NetSuite) and maintain communication with vendors and internal stakeholders until the successful delivery of goods.

● Address and resolve any supplier-related issues regarding defective or incorrect deliveries.

● Foster trust and cultivate strong business relationships with vendors and internal partners for both immediate and long-term collaboration.

● Assist in the sourcing of RFQs from various suppliers and negotiate favorable pricing.

● Coordinate urgent orders with suppliers as required.

● Develop and sustain a list of alternative recommendations for laboratory consumables.

● Support the supply chain planning team by creating, presenting, and providing qualitative insights on vendor performance evaluations.

● Comprehend cost drivers within the biotechnology sector and contribute to cost management initiatives.

● Assist in the regular generation, creation, and enhancement of supply chain ERP reports related to purchase orders and purchasing history.

● Maintain necessary pricing data in NetSuite, ensuring that inventory item quotes are current.

● Champion continuous improvement initiatives within the purchasing department and aid in the development of best practice documentation.

● Provide support for inventory control activities as needed.

● Engage in weekly team meetings and vendor performance reviews as required.

● Lead the vendor onboarding and setup process as necessary.

Qualifications:

Required:

● Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, or Business Administration

● 2-3 years of experience in a supply chain purchasing or related role

● Proficiency in Microsoft Office and/or G-Suite

● Experience in direct interaction with vendor sales and/or customer service to resolve issues

● Ability to work autonomously and coordinate information across multiple departments

● Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with a strong sense of urgency

● Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail

● Flexibility to undertake additional supply chain-related tasks as necessary

● Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills for vendor and customer interactions

Preferred:

● Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or NetSuite

● APICS certifications such as CPIM or CSCP
