Position Summary: We are in search of a proficient leader in navigation, localization, and positioning with extensive experience in robotics and pose localization methodologies. This role is centered on the design and execution of Inertial Navigation Systems (INS), utilizing sensor fusion techniques and pose estimation strategies to ensure accurate navigation for robotic platforms. The ideal candidate will exhibit strong technical leadership, the ability to guide organizational decisions, foster customer relationships, build trust with stakeholders, mentor colleagues, and cultivate a positive team culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement algorithms for real-time navigation, pathfinding, and obstacle avoidance in various operational environments.
  • Utilize sensor fusion methods to amalgamate data from diverse sensors, including GNSS, IMU, LIDAR, radar, sonar, and cameras, to enhance navigation precision and reliability.
  • Create simulation and testing frameworks to assess the performance of navigation and localization solutions across different scenarios.
  • Design and optimize fault-tolerant algorithms for efficiency and reliability in challenging conditions.
  • Evaluate mission requirements and constraints to determine the optimal architecture for navigation, localization, and positioning systems.
  • Lead a community of practice focused on navigation, localization, and positioning across the organization.
  • Steer the strategic direction, roadmap, and architectural solutions for navigation and localization initiatives.
  • Facilitate the assessment and integration of advanced alternative navigation aids.
  • Design, develop, and test inertial navigation systems (INS), GNSS technologies, visual navigation, and related systems for autonomous military vehicles.
  • Generate algorithms for navigation, localization, and positioning systems, including various Kalman filtering techniques and estimation methods using multiple programming languages.
  • Enhance calibration processes for sensor arrays utilized in navigation systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate navigation solutions into comprehensive vehicle systems.
  • Conduct thorough simulations and validations of navigation algorithms and system performance.
  • Stay informed on the latest advancements and research in navigation technologies.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's or PhD in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing navigation and localization algorithms for autonomous systems, robotics, drones, or maritime applications.
  • Familiarity with sensor calibration, sensor fusion, state estimation, and SLAM techniques.
  • In-depth knowledge of navigation principles, including inertial navigation and GPS.
  • Experience in the design and development of navigation, localization, and positioning systems.
  • Expertise in Kalman filtering and other estimation techniques.
  • Experience with real-time systems and diverse software development practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Eligibility to access export-controlled data is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in applying real-time pose localization algorithms from robotics to improve aerospace vehicle navigation accuracy.
  • Experience in developing navigation and localization solutions.
