POSITION SUMMARY:
This role is pivotal in guiding the analysis, design, development, implementation, and ongoing support of the Clemson Ellucian Banner software systems. The individual will be responsible for creating integrations with various vendor systems utilized by the institution. As a senior developer, this position will also mentor and lead other developers as necessary, while fulfilling additional responsibilities as assigned.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
50% - Critical - Advanced Development: Serve as a Subject Matter Expert.
Design and deliver technical solutions for essential Banner Student Systems. Modify, test, and implement programs for development initiatives while creating and maintaining technical documentation. Adhere to and enhance development coding standards. Engage in the analysis and design of assigned products in collaboration with stakeholders. Act as the product subject matter expert for student systems. Utilize programming expertise to mentor team members. Conduct code reviews as needed. Provide development and design estimates for projects.
20% - Critical - Communication and Collaboration: Deliver effective written and verbal communication to both internal and external stakeholders as well as other IT personnel.
20% - Critical - System Administrative Support: Acquire knowledge of business rules, technical design, and production requirements of intricate systems. Maintain a focus on user satisfaction when issues arise. Adhere to software development life cycle standards for coding practices.
10% - Critical - On Call Support: Participate in on-call support for complex systems. Analyze logs, execute SQL queries, and review error messages to identify failure points. Communicate with stakeholders during the investigation and resolution process. Confirm the completion of resolutions.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education - A bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, along with experience in computer system development and modification.
Relevant experience may substitute for the Bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Work Experience: 5+ years
Significant experience with Ellucian Banner 9 and associated systems (e.g., Banner Workflow, DegreeWorks); proficiency in PL/SQL and Grails programming; and familiarity with Automic/UC4 job scheduling software is preferred. Experience with API utilization and development, as well as React.js development, is desired.
The ideal candidate will have a background in a complex software lifecycle development environment, utilizing tools such as the Atlassian suite and Bitbucket, and will be adept at collaborating with business analysts to identify, develop, and test modifications.
Strong communication and problem-solving skills are essential.ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

COMPENSATION INFORMATION
Expected Salary Range ($66,000 - $100,000)
Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills, and performance in accordance with the institution's compensation guidelines.
Normal Operations
Required to adhere to emergency facility closure directives, and not typically expected to work on-site during emergency situations.
